Deputies welcomed with applause the opposition lawmaker released from custody
Opposition lawmaker from Armenia bloc, former head of Sisian community Artur Sargsyan, who has been recently released from custody on bail, attended the National Assembly sitting on Tuesday for the first time. Sargsyan received standing applause by opposition deputies during the session as he entered the hall.
To remind, Artur Sargsyan has been under detention since July, charged with abuse of office and fraud under Article 308 (Part 2) and Article 314 (Part 1) of Armenia’s Criminal Code. The Prosecutor's Office later filed a motion to the Central Electoral Commission to strip Sargsyan of immunity and the CEC granted the petition. The Court released Sargsyan on bail amounting to 20 man AMD.
