MP Artur Ghazinyan not elected deputy committee chair for 9th time
Lawmakers from the ruling Civil Contract faction again blocked the appointment of opposition MP Artur Ghazinyan as Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security of the Armenian parliament on Tuesday. They voted against Ghazinyan for the ninth time.
His candidacy had been nominated by the opposition Armenia faction. Opposition lawmakers boycotted today’s meeting of the committee.
Chairman of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security Andranik Kocharyan urged Armenia faction head Seyran Ohanyan to nominate a new candidate for the post.
According to the D'Hondt method, the opposition is to nominate a new or the same candidate within 5 days.
