Opposition Armenia faction sums up parliamentary week
The opposition Armenia faction in the parliament summed up last week’s parliamentary debates.
"Armenia faction MP Artur Sargsyan, who was finally released after unlawful arrest, was able to take part in the parliament’s activities, and was greeted with applause by his colleagues,” the bloc said in a Facebook post on Friday.
“The long-awaited discussion of border security issues was held in the parliament this week. Organized at the initiative of the opposition, the meeting was held behind closed doors, but then it turned out that the officials who attended the meeting failed to give clear answers after all.
“This time, too, scandals could not be avoided. MPs from the Civic Contract faction were enraged by the word "traitor," and to defend themselves against it National Assembly Deputy Speaker Ruben Rubinyan asked security guards for help. Meanwhile, Nikol Pashinyan, who came to the parliament, was upset by the truth about how and when Artsakh was left out of the negotiation process,” it said, sharing a video of parliamentary debates.
The Armenia faction also recalled that the Civic Contract lawmakers blocked the adoption of a statement stemming from the interests of Armenia and Artsakh.
