Urgent meeting to be held on Armen Charchyan’s case, lawyer says
An emergency meeting on the case of arrested doctor and opposition Armenia faction MP Armen Charchyan will be held on Monday, his lawyer Erik Aleksanyan said on Facebook.
The meeting is scheduled to start at 3:30pm, he said.
“A medical commission has already been set up," the lawyer wrote.
Charchyan, the former head of the Izmirlian Medical Center in Yerevan, was first arrested on 23 June after being charged with electoral offence.
He was released on bail on 21 July to be again arrested on 23 August.
On August 24, Charchyan suffered a heart attack. The defense lawyers have repeatedly requested the court to release him from pre-trial custody, citing his worsening health.
