Opposition MP Artur Ghazinyan not elected deputy committee chair for 10th time
Lawmakers from the ruling Civil Contract faction again blocked the appointment of opposition MP Artur Ghazinyan as Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security of the Armenian parliament on Tuesday. They voted against Ghazinyan for the tenth time.
His candidacy had been nominated by the opposition Armenia faction. Opposition lawmakers boycotted today’s meeting of the committee as well.
Chairman of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security Andranik Kocharyan called for legal requirements to resolve the issue.
He again urged Armenia faction head Seyran Ohanyan, who was not present at the meeting, to nominate a new candidate for the post.
