The 3+3 format is one of the regional cooperation mechanisms under consideration - Deputy FM
"The OSCE Minsk Group reiterated their mandate for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in their recent statement. At this stage, this is very important. We will continue our efforts in this direction, and I believe new meetings will take place soon and favorable conditions will be created for the resumption of the peace process," Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vahe Grigoryan told on Thursday during the 2022 State Budget discussions at parliament.
Responding to the question by MP Anna Grigoryan about the idea of creating the 3+3 regional consultative mechanism in the South Caucasus and Armenia's position on it, the Deputy FM said: "There are number of proposals for regional cooperation, and the 3+3 is one them. We need to adopt a common approach without any biased position toward any of those proposals. The protection of Armenia's national interests is a primary issue for us, likewise the consideration of all risks and threats," said the Armenian diplomat.
In his words, the proposed regional cooperation organizations should not replicate one another and the existing formats. "In this respect, we consider it important that no new format replicate the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship," stressed Grigoryan.
To note, the 3+3 regional consultative mechanism is proposed by the presidents of Turkey and Azerbaijan, comprising Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia plus Iran, Russia and Turkey.
