So far, Azerbaijan has handed over to Armenia the bodies of 1,700 soldiers killed in last year’s war in Artsakh, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said on Friday.
He noted that the handover of bodies took place in accordance with humanitarian law, according to Azerbaijani media.
Earlier in October, the Investigative Committee of Armenia said that 3,788 Armenian servicemen and civilians were killed in Artsakh and Armenia during the war unleashed by Azerbaijan in 2020. To date, 108 captured servicemen and civilians have been handed over to Armenia by Azerbaijan, it said.
Since the end of hostilities, a total of 1,697 bodies of Armenian soldiers and civilians have been found during the search operations in Azerbaijani-held territories of Artsakh or transferred to the Armenian side.
