Pregnant woman died from Covid-19 in Armenia, minister says
A pregnant woman died from coronavirus in Armenia last night, Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan said in the parliament on Monday.
She highlighted that the Delta variant of Covid-19 is more aggressive than previously circulating strains, thus pregnant women are at greater risk.
"There are more than 100 pregnant women among those infected, and almost half of them have pneumonia of varying severity,” the minister said.
She noted that 810 new Covid-19 cases and 30 deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours.
According to her, the epidemiological situation remains tense in the country, but the school vacations and online classes at universities during the previous two weeks had a positive impact at some extent.
Avanesyan also said that the mask mandate was observed more strictly over the past week.
"No significant post-vaccination complications have been recorded. In some cases, there have been fever and mild allergic reactions, which have been eliminated without medical assistance,” the minister said.
