Lives of Artsakh civilians injured in Azerbaijani shooting not in danger, health minister says
One of the Artsakh civilians wounded by Azerbaijani forces near Shushi was successfully operated on and started breathing on his own, being weaned off of a ventilator, the Artsakh Ministry of Health reported on Tuesday.
Gevorg Melkumyan, 31, was taken to the Republican Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the neck. His condition is now serious but stable.
The condition of two other civilians, 41-year-old Armen Sargsyan and 43-year-old Gagik Ghazaryan, remains moderate.
Artsakh Minister of Health Mikayel Hayriyan visited the wounded at the hospital on Monday and Tuesday morning. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, relatives and friends are not allowed to visit them, thus the minister assured them at a meeting that the wounded are under the supervision of doctors, and their lives are not in danger.
Four Artsakh civilians came under Azerbaijani fire while repairing water pipes near the occupied town of Shushi late on Monday afternoon. One of them, 22-year-old Martik Yeremyan, was killed in the shooting.
