Opposition MP Artur Ghazinyan not elected deputy chair of parliamentary committee for 11th time
Lawmakers from the ruling Civil Contract faction again blocked the appointment of opposition MP Artur Ghazinyan as Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security of the Armenian parliament on Tuesday.
His candidacy had been nominated by Armenia faction head Seyran Ohanyan. Opposition lawmakers, except for Gegham Nazaryan, were not present at today’s meeting of the committee.
Chairman Andranik Kocharyan said that only With Honor faction MP Tigran Abrahamyan had notified the committee of his absence.
The Civil Contract MPs voted against Ghazinyan for the 11th time.
