Ombudsman: Azeri shooting at Armenia’s Khachik village was targeted
Armenian Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) Arman Tatoyan has shared photos of the tractor that came under Azerbaijani fire in the village of Khachik in Vayots Dzor Province.
In a statement on Wednesday, Tatoyan said that the local resident was carrying out agricultural work on the tractor when Azerbaijani forces started shooting.
The human rights defender stated that the shooting was targeted, adding the side and rear windows of the tractor were broken as a result of it. The incident happened on November 9. Fortunately, the villager was not injured.
"These actions of the Azerbaijani troops are directed against the dignity, the right to life and property of Armenian civilians, undermine the peaceful and safe life of people, as well as violate their right to physical and mental integrity. These rights are internationally recognized and guaranteed by the Armenian Constitution," the ombudsman said.
Tatoyan stressed one of the key reasons for regular violations of the rights of Armenian civilians is the impunity, as well as the state-sponsored policy of Armenophobia in Azerbaijan.
“This incident will be included in the reports of the Armenian ombudsman and will be submitted to international organizations," he said.
