Caparros apologizes for the performance of the national team
Armenian national team head coach Joaquin Caparros apologized to fans after the 0-5 defeat to North Macedonia on Thursday which ended Armenia's bid to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup finals.
"We prepared for the match with great hope and enthusiasm, trying to make our fans happy," the head coach announced in the post-match press conference. In his assessment, the early goal spoiled the match and left its negative impact on the whole game. "It is easy to say after the match that we needed to choose different players. The new players are not to be blamed for this performance. The opponent just played better than us," said Caparros.
The head coach said the match will be analyzed and the coaching staff will decide which players are psychologically ready to play against Germany.
To note, in the final match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification Armenia will host Germany on November 14. Germany are the group winners and have qualified directly for the World Cup finals.
