Armenian MP calls attention of int'l organizations to fresh Azerbaijani provocation
MP Hripsime Grigoryan from the ruling Civil Contract faction on Tuesday called attention of local and international organizations to the new Azerbaijani encroachments on Armenian territory, particularly the shelling of Armenian positions in the eastern border section.
The lawmaker called on Armenia's international partners, including the CSTO, OSCE, PACE and EU, to take the necessary restraining measures to condemn the fresh Azerbaijani provocation and prevent the further escalation of tensions.
"Azerbaijani military aggression is directed against Armenia's sovereignty and territorial integrity. At the same time, it poses a threat to regional security and stability, contradicting the provisions of the November 9 statement," Grigoryan said.
The situation along the eastern section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border remained extremely tense as of 2:30pm after the Armenian positions came under renewed Azerbaijani attack earlier on Tuesday, the Armenian Defense Ministry said.
“Local battles are taking place, during which the adversary is using artillery, armored vehicles and firearms of different calibers,” it said.
