Armenian ruling faction MPs secure quorum for parliament session after several attempts
The National Assembly of Armenia continued its regular session on Wednesday. After voting multiple times, MPs from the ruling Civil Contract faction secured a quorum and the sitting kicked off.
The lawmakers observed a minute's silence to pay tribute to the servicemen killed during Tuesday’s Azerbaijani attack at the border.
Afterwards, a number of bills debated on at the previous sitting were put to a vote. Only the Civil Contract faction MPs took part in the voting, since the opposition Armenia and With Honor factions announced their decision to boycott the parliament session on Tuesday.
They expressed dissatisfaction with the issues brought to the parliament agenda, noting that security issues had to be discussed as a priority.
All the draft laws put to the vote were adopted unanimously.
The parliament fully passed in the second reading, inter alia, the government-drafted bill which would cut the number of the non-working days during the New Year holidays. According to the bill, the non-working days are 31 December, 1 and 2 January, as well as January 6 – the Christmas day.
