Russian, EU diplomats discuss Armenian-Azerbaijani clashes during a phone call
Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Andrey Rudenko held a phone conversation with EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Toivo Klaar, the press department at the Russian foreign ministry reported. According to the source, the interlocutors discussed the 'escalation on separate sections on the Armenian-Azerbaijan border'.
Although the sides 'voice concern over the armed clashes' it should be noted that the clashes were reported not on the border, but the Azerbaijani forces intruded into the territory of Armenia, occupied combat positions and captured servicemen on those positions.
During the conversation the interlocutors have called for restraint and highlighted the need to settle all issues through political and diplomatic means, the ministry statement said.
