Pashinyan, Aliyev agree to establish direct communication line at the level of defense ministers, EU says
Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev have agreed to establish a direct communication line, at the level of the two country’s defense ministers, to prevent incidents around Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), the European Council representing EU member states said in a statement on Friday.
The statement came after European Council President Charles Michel held phone calls with the two leaders earlier on 19 November.
“During the phone calls, the Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders have also agreed to establish a direct communication line, at the level of respective Ministers of Defence, to serve as an incident prevention mechanism,” reads the statement.
