Artsakh citizen accidentally crossed into Azerbaijani-held territory – NSS
An Artsakh citizen lost his way and accidentally crossed into Azerbaijani-held territory, the National Security Service (NSS) of Artsakh said in a statement on Tuesday.
The man, identified only by initials as M.M. (born in 2000), is a resident of the village of Ashan in the Martuni region.
The incident happened early on Tuesday morning. The NSS said the man was detained by the Azerbaijani authorities after ending up in the territory under their control.
“Russian peacekeepers were immediately alerted about the incident and they ascertained the safety of the citizen,” the NSS said, adding negotiations are underway with the Azerbaijani side to get back the citizen.
