Dutch parliament passes motions on Azerbaijan’s provocations against Armenia, POWs
The Dutch parliament adopted two motions on Azerbaijan’s provocations against Armenia and the lack of democracy in the country, the Armenian Embassy in the Netherlands reported on Tuesday.
One of the motions calls on the government to work with the European Union to conduct an independent investigation of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan and report the results to the parliament as soon as possible.
The second motion points to the serious problems of human rights, freedom of speech and the press in Azerbaijan, underlining that the situation is further worsening.
The document addresses the issue of Armenian prisoners of war (POWs) still being held in Azerbaijan.
“Taking into account the participation of Azerbaijan, a country far from European values, in the Eastern Partnership summit to be held on December 15, the Dutch parliament urges the government to draw conclusions from the above-mentioned facts during the EU-Azerbaijan talks within the EaP Summit," the motion says.
