Russian peacekeepers ensure safety of around 150 pilgrims visiting Amaras monastery in a week
Servicemen of the Russian peacekeeping contingent ensured the safety of more than 150 pilgrims when visiting the Amaras monastery complex near the demarcation line in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).
The servicemen of the Russian peacekeeping contingent on modern armored personnel carriers BTR-82A ensure a safe visit by pilgrims to church services in the Amaras monastery complex, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Wednesday.
After the end of hostilities and the signing of a ceasefire agreement, the early medieval Amaras monastery found itself in the immediate vicinity of the demarcation line. Servicemen of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh on a regular basis ensure the safety of pilgrims wishing to visit this shrine.
