Project LA releases new song in Western Armenian
Project LA has released a new song in Western Armenian to mark its 6th anniversary.
“Melody of Spring”, which is based on a poem by Misak Metsarents, is the only Western Armenian song in the Project LA repertoire.
The song is performed by Gor Sujyan (music by Levon Arevshatyan, arrangement by Khachik Sahakyan, executive producer: Suren Sahakyan).
Project LA is a project founded by composer Levon Arevshatyan (LA) in 2015. All songs performed by the band are composed by Arevshatyan based on classical poetry.
Having transformed poems by Edgar Allan Poe, Emily Dickenson, and Lord Byron into songs, the author of the project decided to turn to the poems of the Armenian classics – Vahan Teryan, Yeghishe Charents, Hamo Sahyan, Silva Kaputikyan, Paruyr Sevak and Misak Metsarents, as well as modern Armenian poet Avet Barseghyan.
The first song in Armenian was based on "Nostalgia" by Vahan Teryan.
Project LA released its first album called “Imitation” featuring eight English songs in 2016. The first album composed of Armenian songs was released in 2017.
The band released “Requiem” (lyrics by Avet Barseghyan) in 2021 to pay tribute to the martyrs of the 2020 Artsakh war.
