Georgian health minister insists no need for Saakashvili to continue treatment abroad
Jailed ex-president of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili receives the necessary medical care in his homeland and does not need any treatment abroad, the country's health minister Ekaterina Tikaradze stated on Friday in an interview with the Georgian TV channel Rustavi 2.
“I cannot imagine that Georgian doctors have no sufficient competence to ensure the patient [Saakashvili] with everything necessary. Based on this, we did not lead any consultations to deliver the patient abroad and there to continue his treatment,” health minister Tickradze is quoted by TASS news agency.
To the question of a journalist, when Saakashvili can be transferred from the Military Hospital of Gori prison, the minister replied that everything depends on the process of restoring the health of the convict.
