Ambassador: Bob Dole was always at the forefront for fight for Armenian Genocide recognition
Armenian Ambassador to the UK Varuzhan Nersesyan took to Facebook on Sunday to pay tribute to Bob Dole, a former U.S. senator and a great friend of Armenia, who died aged 98.
“So saddened to hear the news about the death of Senator Bob Dole. I had enormous respect towards this extraordinary man. He was not only a great politician and a statesman for his country but also great friend for the Armenian people,” the ambassador wrote.
“Last time I spoke to him on April 24 2021, when President Biden officially recognized the Armenian Genocide. Senator Dole told that he was happy that it happened during his lifetime. He was always at the forefront for the fight for Genocide recognition as well as supporting Armenia and Artsakh. Rest In Peace dear Senator Dole, your memory will stay forever in our hearts,” Nersesyan said.
