Armenian deputy PM: Unblocking of regional communications not related to border delimitation and demarcation
The possible unblocking of communications in the region is not related to the delimitation and demarcation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan told an interview to TASS Russian news agency on Tuesday.
"We adhere to the Sochi statement of the leaders of the three countries, according to which we agreed to take steps to increase stability and security on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and work towards the establishment of a bilateral commission on the delimitation and subsequent demarcation of the state border between Armenia and Azerbaijan with Russia’s consultative support. However, this issue is in no way connected with the possible opening of transport communications in the region," he said.
The Armenian official also added that an expert subgroup was set up within the trilateral working group co-chaired by the deputy prime ministers of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan to unblock transport communications. It is dealing with issues of ensuring transportation in the event of opening the borders.
"There has been no discussion of the final settlement of these issues yet," Grigoryan said.
