Opposition MP on Armenian authorities: They are bringing their rule to a close without much efforts
MP Tigran Abrahamyan, who represents the opposition With Honor faction, blasted the authorities for harassment of the opposition figures, who won the recent elections in some communities of Armenia.
"It is extremely surprising that so far the authorities have not introduced a bill, which would authorize only the ruling Civil Contract party members to hold any post in the country, including that of president, prime minister, community leader, company director,” he wrote on Facebook on Friday.
“The law should particularly stipulate that anyone who eyes a position without being a Civil Contract member would be subjected to a long punishment as a perpetrator of a serious crime,” the lawmaker said ironically.
He stated the rule of the current leadership is nearing its end.
“They are bringing their rule to a close without much efforts,” he stated.
The opposition MP also condemned law enforcement officers for serving the “personal whims” of the authorities.
He said that a rally will be held outside the Supreme Judicial Council building in Yerevan on Friday afternoon, to be followed by a march to the Prosecutor General's Office.
