17th congress of Republican Party of Armenia gets underway
The 17th congress of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) started in Yerevan on Saturday afternoon. At the beginning of the meeting, a short video about the party's activity was shown.
The video featured a statement of Armenia’s third President and RPA Chairman Serzh Sargsyan, who said: "Rest assured, I will never leave the trench that protects the Armenian statehood.”
There are 563 delegates selected and 535 registered to participate in the regular RPA congress.
The congress was officially declared open and the Armenia national anthem performed by singer and RPA member Shushan Petrosyan was played.
