Viva-MTS: General Partner of Paros Chamber Choir for ten years
Komitas, Yekmalyan, Syuni, Kara-Murza, Kanachyan, Mansuryan, Terteryan, Odabashyan... Over the years, songs by many Armenian and foreign composers have been included in the repertoir of the Paros Chamber Choir. The inclusive choir, which includes people with disabilities, including disabled people, has no analogues in the world.
Paros began its activity as a creative association performing the function of psychological rehabilitation. The group managed not only to successfully fulfill this mission, but also to record many achievements in the creative field. The choir has released 4 video clips and 3 CDs. Formed 28 years ago, the choir was supported by the Paros Foundation. Since 2011, Viva-MTS has become the main partner of the choir, the company said in a press release on Friday.
Co-founder and director of Paros Armen Alaverdyan considers the support of Viva-MTS very essential. According to him, the willingness to encourage the activities of Paros and provide psychological support to the team gave the desired result. In 2011 alone, under the direction of conductor Raffi Mikaelyan, Paros won 3 awards at the VI International choir festival “Musica Sacra” in Bratislava. In 2014-2016, Paros managed to take part in the World Choir Games, representing Armenia in Riga (2014) and Sochi (2016) and win 2 silver medals.
“When will and art unite, thinking and the perception of problems change. By their example, these people teach never to break down and value life. They found a way to overcome difficulties. The language of music has become a real light in the darkness. For some time we have been monitoring the success and achievements of the group. I must note that we get inspired when we see that even in the most difficult and non-standard situations, Paros continues to work and follow the path of victory,” said Viva-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian.
The choir has had numerous performances in Yerevan, in the regions of Armenia, in Artsakh and abroad. Particularly memorable were the tours of Paros in Lebanon (1997), Georgia (1998), France (2005), Austria (2011), as well as its successful participation in competitions and festivals in Great Britain (2000) and Italy (2003).
In June 2016, Paros was honored to perform in Holy Etchmiadzin in front of Pope Francis and Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II.
The Artistic Director of Paros is Raffi Mikaelyan, and since May 2016 Ruben Karaseferyan has become the new conductor.
The pandemic and past wars have changed the course and lifestyle of many people around the world. Paros has proved by its activities that when there is a goal and a desire to bring it to life, success is guaranteed. Regardless of the circumstances, the choir has remained true to its name and purpose, releasing a number of impressive music videos in 2020. In the current year, the group resumed concert performances.
Paros operates under the “Unison” NGO.
