No exact date set yet for reopening of History Museum of Armenia
No exact date has yet been set for the reopening of the History Museum of Armenia to visitors, its deputy director told Panorama.am on Wednesday.
It has been closed to the public for months due to the modernization of the ventilation system in the museum building. The slow pace of the work is also due to the special procedure for installing certain units of equipment in the building.
Deputy Director for Development of the History Museum Arusyak Ghazaryan has expressed hope that the museum will partially reopen in early 2022.
She says there is no exact date set yet, pending the completion of the construction work.
“However, we will try to open at least some part of it in the first quarter of next year," she said.
According to the deputy director, the ventilation systems are being renovated in the whole territory of the museum in an effort to create the required temperature and humidity levels for the exhibits.
Although the museum is not open to visitors, it is organizing online and offline events.
In Ghazaryan’s words, 16 offline events were held during the year. The activities of the museum, including the scientific work, naturally continues inside the museum building, but awareness campaigns and educational programs are carried out outside the museum.
She also noted that the exhibits of the museum are displayed in other places. The exhibition "The Secret of the Land" has recently launched at the Hovhannes Sharambeyan Museum of Folk Arts, she said.
Throughout the year, the museum has regularly been enriched with new exhibits through donations and purchases.
