Artsakh resident who accidentally crossed into Azerbaijani-held territory repatriated
An Artsakh resident, identified as Armen Verdyan (born in 1971), resident of Aygestan, a community in the Askeran region of Artsakh lost his way in the morning of December 29 and accidentally crossed into Azerbaijani-held territory, where he was detained by Azerbaijani forces.
As the Human Rights Ombudsman of the Artsakh Republic Gegham Stepanyan reports, as a result of negotiations held by Artsakh security bodies and Russian peacekeepers, the civilian has been repatriated and at present is with Russian peacekeeping forces. He will be transferred to the Armenian side soon, Stepanyan said.
