Yerevan court to hear Kocharyan’s lawsuit against Pashinyan on Monday
The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, presided over by judge Sergey Sahakyan, on Monday will hear a defamation lawsuit filed by Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan against Nikol Pashinyan and the Republic of Armenia.
The court hearing is scheduled to start at 12pm, Kocharyan’s legal team said.
Hayk Alumyan, a lawyer for the ex-president, filed the suit in April last year, seeking 4 million drams in compensation for non-pecuniary damages and a public retraction of “slanderous remarks” made by Pashinyan.
At the previous hearing, the lawyer filed a motion to recuse the presiding judge over the case assignment procedure. However, the judge denied the motion.
