New commander of Russian peacekeeping contingent in Artsakh appointed
Major General Alexander Volkov has been appointed the commander of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), Sputnik Armenia reported. Volkov will replace Lieutenant General Gennady Anashkin. It is noted that the change of the commander is implemented on a rotating basis, and the handover has already began.
The source reminds that Volkov served as Deputy to ex-commander of the Russian peacekeepers in Artsakh Lieutenant General Rustam Muradov from November 2020 to May 2021.
Volkov currently serves as Chief of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Troops of the Southern Military District of the Russian Defense Ministry.
