Putin, Pashinyan discuss situation in Artsakh and Kazakhstan
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday held a telephone conversation with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the Kremlin said in a statement.
“Taking into account Armenia's chairmanship of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, an exchange of views on the progress of the CSTO peacekeeping operation in Kazakhstan was held,” it said.
The effective coordinated actions of the CSTO peacekeeping contingent contributing to the normalization of the situation in the country were noted.
The parties discussed the situation in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and some issues on the implementation of the agreements enshrined in the statements of Russian, Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders made on November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021.
It was agreed to continue contacts at various levels, the Kremlin added.
Incidentally, the statement made no reference to the latest fighting on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, as a result of which three Armenian soldiers were killed and two others were wounded.
Armenia has not yet released an official statement on the phone call.
