World's oldest man dies at 112
The world’s oldest man, Saturnino de la Fuente García from León, Spain, has died at the age of 112 and 341 days, the New York Post reports.
García broke the Guinness World Record for longest person living back in September 2021. The publication announced his passing on Tuesday.
De la Fuente García once told Guinness World Records his secret to a long life: “Do not hurt anyone.”
According to Guinness, he was born in Puente Castro, Leon, on Feb. 11, 1909,
He was affectionately also known as “El pepino” during his lifetime. (“El pepino” is a shortened version for the moniker “Peña,” the name of de la Fuente García’s mom.)
He “lived a quiet life” with his wife Antonina Barrio Gutiérrez, whom he married in 1933, he told Guinness.
He is survived by his seven daughters, 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
