Opposition MP accuses Pashinyan of hiding data on president's citizenship
Opposition Hayastan faction MP Agnesa Khamoyan on Tuesday accused Nikol Pashinyan of hiding data on resigned President Armen Sarkissian’s citizenship.
Hetq claimed on Monday that Sarkissian held dual Armenian and St. Kitts and Nevis citizenship when he was elected president in 2018.
Hetq wrote that Sarkissian’s dual citizenship thus prevented him from assuming the presidency based on Article 124 of Armenia’s Constitution.
Speaking at a briefing, Khamoyan noted that Nikol Pashinyan raised the issue of Armen Sarkissian’s citizenship when he was an opposition MP. However, he stopped talking about it after coming to power in 2018.
"I think Pashinyan is an accomplice here, because he knew about the facts, but stayed silent about it,” Khamoyan said. “That’s why he tried to avoid this topic during the interview on Monday.”
