Court orders re-arrest of Kajaran mayor, lawyer says
Manvel Paramazyan, the opposition mayor of Kajaran, Armenia, will be arrested again, his lawyer Yervand Varosyan said on Monday.
“The Court of Appeals has been instructed to re-arrest Kajaran Mayor Manvel Paramazyan," the lawyer wrote on Facebook.
He noted that the defense will continue to fight for justice.
Paramazyan was released from custody on bail of 70 million drams ($145,000) in December, after being jailed for several months.
He is accused of fraud, bribery and vote-buying. Paramazyan denies any wrongdoing, saying the charges are “politically motivated”.
