Human right activist announces assembly outside EU Delegation office in Yerevan
Human rights activist Ruben Melikyan announced an assembly outside the office of the European Union Delegation in Yerevan on February 10, following the arrest of judge Boris Bakhshiyan.
Judge Davit Arghamanyan of the Syunik Court of General Jurisdiction on Monday granted a motion of the National Security Service (NSS) to arrest Bakhshiyan, who had earlier ordered the release of jailed opposition figure and war veteran Ashot Minasyan.
"Davit Arghamanyan ruled to arrest judge Bakhshiyan for 2 months. I have no more questions to the Armenian authorities, since everything is clear here. But I have questions and something to say to those who have recorded "democratic progress" in Armenia,” Melikyan wrote on Facebook.
“To this end, we will gather in front of the office of the EU Delegation in Armenia on Thursday, February 10, at 2pm. Those people must take accountability for their assessments,” he said.
