No Armenians among casualties in Ukraine – Union of Armenians
There are no Armenian nationals among casualties, both dead and wounded, in Ukraine, Deputy Chairman of the Union of Armenians in Ukraine Davit Mkrtchyan told Panorama.am on Thursday.
"Thank God there are no casualties. Bad news spreads quickly. Let's hope there won't be any. We had hoped that all this would have come to an end in Donbass. We were going to help and evacuate Armenians living there, but now all Armenians in Ukraine are in the same situation," Mkrtchyan said.
In his words, there are Armenian families who would like to leave the territory of Ukraine, but the airports are closed for security reasons and they have no information about land routes.
"At this point, the situation is very tense in the regions of Kharkiv, Donetsk and Luhansk," he noted.
The deputy chairman said that they talked to the heads of all the communities of the union this morning. They said sounds of explosions were heard in almost all regions, even in the western parts of the country.
"Then we learned from TV that military airbases had been hit," he said, adding that the situation the situation was tense in almost all regions of the country.
The National Police of Ukraine reported that one person was killed and five others were injured in an airstrike on Brovary, Kyiv. In addition, one building was burned down and a four-story house was damaged. Casualties were also reported in the Odessa and Donetsk regions.
