Court upholds ruling on release of ex-Armenian POW
Armenia’s Court of Criminal Appeals has upheld a lower court ruling to release former Armenian prisoner of war (POW) Robert Nalbandyan, rejecting the prosecutors’ request, human rights activist Ruben Melikyan said on Friday.
“Robert will remain at liberty. This important decision was made by judge Bisharyan,” he wrote on Facebook.
Nalbandyan was taken captive during the November 16 clashes on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border and later repatriated to Armenia, where he was arrested on suspicion of violating the rules of combat duty. He was set free on 7 January.
