Attempted murder probe launched after Azeri forces open fire at workers in Artsakh
The Investigative Committee of Artsakh has launched a criminal investigation into an attempted murder of three Armenian workers by the Azerbaijani military.
Azerbaijani forces opened fire at the village of Khramort in Artsakh’s Askeran region from large-caliber machine guns on February 5, at around 12pm, targeting three employees of the Foundation for Future Generations LLC, who were repairing a tractor at the time.
The workers, who had to take cover for two hours, escaped unharmed, the authorities said.
In a statement on Monday, the Investigative Committee said the Azerbaijani soldiers committed the attempted murder on grounds of “ethnic, racial or religious hatred or religious fanaticism."
The preliminary probe is underway.
