Kamo Kochunts named caretaker chief of Armenian army's General Staff
Top army officer Kamo Kochunts is set to temporarily take over as chief of the Armenian military’s General Staff, the Defense Ministry confirmed to Panorama.am on Monday.
He has served as first deputy chief of the General Staff since September 13, 2021.
Artak Davtyan was dismissed as Armenian army chief on 24 February nearly one year after being reappointed to the post.
He was first installed as army chief in May 2018 and was relieved of his duties in June 2020. He was indicted as part of a a criminal probe into supplies of allegedly faulty weapons to the Armenian army last fall.
