MP Abrahamyan: Russians coming to Armenia should enjoy special treatment
Armenian MP Tigran Abrahamyan from the opposition With Honor faction believes
the inflow of Russians to Armenia observed in recent days is important not only from a business perspective, but also from a purely human one.
“We shouldn't forget that there are 2.5-3 million Armenians living in Russia according to various estimates, while the Russian troops are ensuring security in Armenia and Artsakh. Regardless of the political views, the Russians coming to Armenia should enjoy special treatment,” he wrote on Facebook on Monday.
“It’s not solely a moral issue; the attitudes and the policy towards Armenians living in Russia in other situations depend on it.
“Irrespective of the anti-Armenian stance expressed by various Ukrainian politicians and political forces at different stages, it is sad to see what kind of situation the Ukrainian people have found themselves in, because, first, Armenians have also lived in Ukraine for centuries, and, second, the war is first and foremost a human tragedy.
“I don't think the Russian operation will last long, but even the end of hostilities doesn't mean that stability or security can be established in Ukraine,” Abrahamyan said.
