Russian, Turkish defense ministers hold phone call
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and his Turkish counterpart Hulusi Akar discussed the situation in Ukraine and the Middle East during their phone call on Friday, TASS reported, citing the Russian Defense Ministry.
"During the phone call, the sides discussed the current situation in Ukraine and the Middle East region. The ministers paid special attention to evacuation of Turkish citizens from Ukrainian cities via humanitarian corridors," the ministry said.
Akar also stressed the need for an urgent ceasefire in Ukraine to prevent further loss of life in the war, Anadolu Agency said.
He also reiterated that Turkiye is trying to provide all kinds of support for humanitarian aid and is ready to continue doing its part to ensure peace in the region.
