Smoking ban in all public catering facilities takes effect in Armenia
The use of tobacco products and their alternatives in cafés, restaurants and all other public catering establishments in Armenia is banned from now on.
The smoking ban also applies to outdoor catering facilities.
The relevant provision of the law “On Reduction and Prevention of Health Damages caused by the Use of Tobacco Products and their Substitutes” has come into effect today.
The fine for a violation of the smoking ban ranges from 50,000 drams (for ordinary citizens) to 200,000 drams (for officials).
Police are set to oversee compliance with the new measure.
The new law is aimed at protecting the present and future generations from the adverse effects of tobacco use on health.
