Armenia won't face food security problems, SRC chief says
Armenia imports grains, sugar and cooking oil mostly from Russia, State Revenue Committee (SRC) Chairman Rustam Badasyan told reporters in the parliament on Wednesday.
"The share of imports from Ukraine is also quite large, but now it is currently impossible to make imports from the country, while the Russian Federation has made certain decisions. The matter will be discussed in the near future," he said.
According to the SRC chief, the panic buying by Armenian shoppers, which followed Moscow’s decision to ban grain exports to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), have led to some problems. The same problem arose in Russia, but according to the final decisions there will be no negative impacts on the goods imported to Armenia, Badasyan noted.
He assures that Armenia will not be facing food security problems, saying soon it will be possible to import goods from Russia.
