Armenian, Russian FMs hold phone call
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Monday held a phone call with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
They discussed topical issues on the bilateral agenda, including preparations for Nikol Pashinyan's official visit to Russia in April, as well as other events to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
"In the regional context, the importance of the strict implementation of the trilateral agreements of the Azerbaijani, Armenian and Russian leaders of November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021, including the soonest launch of the delimitation process of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and the start of project activities to unblock transport and economic ties in the region was reaffirmed. They discussed the issue of signing a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which Russia is ready to support in every possible way,” the statement said.
The high level of interaction between Moscow and Yerevan within the Eurasian integration structures, including CSTO, EAEU, CIS, as well as on international platforms, was noted with satisfaction, the ministry added.
The Armenian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the sides discussed the process of implementing the agreements under the trilateral statements of November 9, 2020, January 11, 2021 and November 26, 2021.
Mirzoyan presented the situation on the Armenia-Azerbaijani border and in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) following provocations and ceasefire violations by Azerbaijan.
The foreign minister also presented to his colleague Yerevan's position on the start of negotiations on the signing of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, highlighting the role of the OSCE Minsk Group in that regard.
