We have to learn to live without buckwheat
Goods are getting more expensive in Yerevan stores with each passing day.
On March 10, a customer took a picture of Maranik buckwheat in a branch of the Yerevan City supermarket chain. As the photo below shows, 1 kg buckwheat cost 1,720 drams 13 days ago.
Today, March 24, the same buckwheat costs 2,170 drams. That is, the price for a kilogram of buckwheat has risen by 450 drams in two weeks.
These days, almost all foodstuffs have gone up in price. Meanwhile, neither the minimum wage, nor pensions or benefits have increased.
Judging by the statement of a senior government member, we have to learn to live without buckwheat, vegetable oil, flour, sugar and dairy products amid the current high inflation rate.
Incidentally, speaking about the disruption of gas supplies to Artsakh, which has caused a humanitarian crisis in the country, Andranik Kocharyan, an MP from Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract faction, said on Wednesday that “we should learn to live without gas”.
