One Armenian soldier wounded in Azerbaijani attack on Artsakh
Azerbaijani forces violated the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) ceasefire and invaded the area of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping mission on Thursday, March 24, the Defense Ministry of Artsakh said in a statement on Friday.
The Azerbaijani military managed to take control of the village of Parukh and adjusted positions, then trying to advance in the eastern part of Artsakh.
The negotiations of the Russian peacekeeping troops and the competent bodies of Artsakh with the Azerbaijani side lasted for hours did not yield significant results. The adversary did not return to the starting positions, the ministry said.
“Moreover, in the night of March 25, the Azerbaijani troops opened fire at the Defense Army units, using both firearms of various calibers and combat UAVs. As a result of the skirmishes, at least 5 Azerbaijani servicemen have been killed. The Armenian side has one wounded,” the statement said.
“As of 9am, the situation was relatively stable. We expect the Russian peacekeepers to take measures to make the Azerbaijani forces withdraw to their initial positions,” the ministry noted.
