Preliminary results show victory for Armenia's ruling party in Vedi elections
Preliminary results from the local elections held in the enlarged community of Vedi in Armenia’s Ararat Province on Sunday show a victory for the ruling Civil Contact party.
The party garnered 13,139 votes, while its contender, My Strong Community party, received 9,694 votes, the Central Electoral Commission said.
Garik Sargsyan, an interim mayor of Vedi and former governor of Ararat Province, topped the Civil Contact party’s electoral list.
The voter turnout stood at 23,378. 545 ballot papers were declared invalid.
