Court extends arrest of judge Boris Bakhshiyan
An Armenian court has extended the arrest of judge Boris Bakhshiyan of the Syunik Court of General Jurisdiction for one month, his lawyer Yerem Sargsyan said.
“The motion to extend Boris Bakhshiyan’s arrest has been partially granted,” he wrote on Facebook on Wednesday. “It has been extended by one month.”
Bakhshiyan was arrested on 7 February, shortly after the latter ruled to release jailed opposition figure and war veteran Ashot Minasyan on bail.
The judge is accused of illegally arresting a defendant, Nver Mkrtchyan, in a trial presided over by him.
