Analyst: Armenian society must set out its own demands
Political analyst Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan has reacted to the statement issued by the Armenian Foreign Ministry on the 30th anniversary of the massacre of Armenians in Maragha.
“The Republic of Armenia reaffirms its commitment to ensure the right of the people of Artsakh to a free, secure and dignified life in their homeland,” the statement reads.
“Do you know what this is attributed to? To the fact that our society is starting to make its demands again. People take to the square and declare that Artsakh will never be part of Azerbaijan. Then they install the Artsakh flag in the squares of their cities,” he wrote on Telegram on Monday.
“As I said a few days ago, our society must set out its own demands and must be political. Only then will Nikol [Pashinyan] think about who to be more afraid of – Aliyev or the Armenian people.
“In fact, we have reached a turning point. It is necessary to organize ourselves on the ground and to take action, albeit small. There is only one agenda – to save Artsakh. We need to move in that direction without looking around. Then you will see how quickly all the other issues are solved,” the analyst said.
