Cellist Narek Hakhnazaryan to perform a recital in Armenia
World-renowned cellist Narek Hakhnazaryan will perform a recital in Armenia after a long break.
The concert is scheduled to be held in Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall in Yerevan on May 1, organizers said. Pianist Jean-Paul Gasparian will share the stage with the cellist.
The concert program features Jules Massenet’s Meditation from Thais, the Sonata in A major for Violin and Piano by César Franck (arrangement for cello by Narek Hakhnazaryan), Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Nocturne for Cello Op. 19, No. 4 and Pezzo Capriccioso Op. 62, and Dmitri Shostakovich's Sonata for Cello and Piano in D minor, Op. 40.
Narek Hakhnazaryan is recognized worldwide as one of the finest cellists of his generation. Since winning the Cello First Prize and Gold Medal at the XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2011 at the age of 22, he has forged strong relationships across the globe with orchestras such as the Mariinsky Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic, Filarmonica de la Scala and the London Philharmonic. Hakhnazaryan was selected to the prestigious 2014 BBC New Generation Artists Scheme, and his performances are broadcast regularly on BBC Radio 3.
